Serving in children’s ministry is one of the BEST things you can do.

Not only do you experience first-hand the transformation of young lives, you experience a community of like-minded people who know that growth in Christ always occurs when you give your life away to serve others.

Serving in children’s ministry is for ALL of us, not just a chosen few. Together, we believe it is reasonable to expect each Fellowship family to actively engage in and support the spiritual development of our children.

Serve in FCM! Serving in children’s ministry is EASY. We have a wonderful staff and lots of veteran volunteers poised to train and equip, to walk along side, and to help you experience success in cultivating the soil of our children’s hearts.

Our desire is that each volunteer will experience more love, more joy, more ministry and more of His presence as you step out in faith into the mystery of leading a child to Christ.

Opportunities

Nursery-Toddler: Volunteers in this area provide a safe, secure, and loving environment for babies and toddlers.

2s, 3s and PreK Teachers: Simple, teacher-friendly curriculum allows our 2s, 3s and PreK kids to go home with one Big Idea about God. Teachers read a story, sing songs and lead a simple craft.

Kindergarten and 1st grade Teachers: A little more preparation (30-45 minutes per week) is involved as we seek to introduce our kids to Christ. Teachers focus on loving kids, playing games and teaching lessons in creative and meaningful ways.

2nd – 6th grade Mentors: In our theme classes, mentors help students process, understand and make sense of the core message. Their primary objective is to develop relationships with students in a small group setting.

Actors: Drama is powerful teaching tool in our theme rooms. Actors serve from a few to several times per year and communicate key lesson points. Positions available include lead roles, supporting roles and puppeteers. From high schoolers to adults, if you like drama, have we got a show for you!

Kingdom Kids Coaches: Kingdom Kids is our extended experience for kids of our Learning Center volunteers. Coaches lead kids in small group discussion and fun activities such as games, crafts, and, of course, snacks! It’s like summer camp all year round. Let the games begin!

Kingdom Kids Choir Directors: 1st through 5th grade Kingdom Kids have the opportunity to participate in our amazing kids’ worship choir. Directors and assistant directors equip kids in worship, vocal understanding and presentation.

Classroom Support Team: Classroom Support volunteers assist teachers, retrieve supplies, help with bathroom breaks, stroll fussy babies and keep a watchful eye on hallways, playgrounds and the pond.

Kiosk Operator: Volunteers welcome Fellowship families to the Learning Center and help parents with our computerized check-in process. You don’t have to love computers, just people!

Visitor Check-In: The role of our Visitor Check-In staff is to welcome new families, obtain necessary information, make nametags, and escort them through the Learning Center.

Buddy Ministry: Some of our kids need the special assistance and friendship of a Buddy. A Buddy is a volunteer who is trained and equipped to partner with a specific child while in the Learning Center.

Volunteer Requirements

Be a Fellowship member.
Submit an application and agree to a background check (see forms above right)
Attend Learning Center Volunteer Training
Serve for one calendar year (mid-August through mid-August)

Substitute Information

For the life of a Learning Center student, your consistent presence is vital to the process of their life-change. As you build relationships with them, you will discover that no one can actually take your place. But, we understand that it is sometimes necessary to take a weekend off due to illness or a planned vacation. Finding substitutes can take some time, so please give as much advance notice as possible.

Substitute Policy: As soon as you know that you need to miss a day of class, please try and find someone who can sub for you. Spouses, community group members, Bible study classmates, and friends are great resources.

Saturday Volunteers: Try to find a substitute from the teachers on the opposite team and swap with them. This helps us to keep things as consistent as possible for our kids and eliminates the problem of having a substitute that is unfamiliar with your curriculum. If your fellow team cannot switch with you, please try to find someone else to fill-in.

Once you have found a replacement, please email your coordinator and let her know when you will be out and who is filling in for you. If you are unable to find someone to fill-in, please email your coordinator as soon as possible. Please know that if you do not call before Thursday, it is unlikely that we will be able to find a sub for you, but it helps us to be aware of your absence before your class begins.
