Parents Place
Kids are wonderful, incredible creations of God and parents are given the great honor and blessing of raising them in the wisdom and instruction of the Lord. As a church, families collectively support each other’s efforts to build and shape godly children. Raising children can be challenging but together we can find encouragement and support to press ahead. We do not recommend a shop-n-drop approach to children’s ministry where parents drop off their kids for someone else to take the responsibility of developing them spiritually. On the contrary, we feel that each parent is obligated and privileged to have the opportunity to spend time in children’s ministry and share the experience of kids’ discipleship. When it comes to children's ministry, together is truly better.
Child Dedication
At Fellowship, child dedication is really parent dedication. Parents have the primary responsibility for and influence over their children’s lives and have received the directive to “train up a child in the way he should go.” Prov. 22:6. To this end, we offer families an opportunity to publically declare their intentions to raise their children in the fear and admonition of the Lord and the church body an opportunity to commit to walking with parents.
When a family dedicates a child, they declare that it is their intention to passionately pursue their relationship with God with all their heart, soul and strength and to faithfully live out the teachings of Scripture. They commit to teach the Word of God diligently to their child as they provide a Christ-centered home where they will bring up their child in the wisdom and knowledge of the Lord. The congregation also stands and commits to help each family raise their children in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.
The congregation stands and dedicates ourselves to help each family raise their children in the nurture and admonition of the Lord. We dedicate ourselves, in accordance with Scripture, to each family, to encourage their child towards faith in Christ, to help them mature in the faith and give their lives away for His Kingdom and glory.
Child dedications are held throughout the year at the beginning of all four services. If you are interested in learning more or in registering for the next child dedication, please contact Robin Kropff (277-9434 or ).
Baptism
Baptism is one of the two ordinances instituted and commanded by Jesus for believers. It is an outward symbol of an inward life change and a celebration of becoming part of the body of Christ. Because we believe profession of faith and baptism are so important, we require all children who desire to be baptized at Fellowship to attend a baptism class in order to determine their understanding and readiness.
