Counseling

Sometimes life throws out hurdles that are too difficult to manage with the help of family and friends. Whether it is a conflict, difficulty with a child, grief support, or other kinds of emotional needs, Fellowship Bible Church provides pastoral support and professional counseling for individuals, couples, and families in need.

Community pastors serve as our community’s front-line support and encouragement in times of need. We also have a professional counselor team, who provides assessments and short-term counseling. For longer term help, our counselors will assist you in finding a professional care provider. In addition to pastoral and counseling support, we also offer a variety of excellent, specialized support groups.

Due to the size of Fellowship and the volume of needs within, our pastoral and counseling teams are only available to Fellowship members, those currently in SoulCare groups, or those in the process of membership.

For more information or to schedule an appointment, contact Erica Stegner (277-9542 or ). If you are struggling with suicidal thoughts or a crisis requiring immediate attention, please call 911 or the Nashville Crisis Line (244-7444).

About Maridus: Married 32 years to Connie. I have been a part of the Fellowship staff since 2000. Prior to moving to Franklin, we lived in Oregon where for six years I served as a pastor, did a nine year stint in corporate management, three years in insurance and investments, and four years in the Marine Corps. I love the Bible, sharing Christ and spending time with friends. I enjoy reading, running, riding motorcycles, dogs and Nebraska football. Connie serves as an elementary school principal and loves time in the Word, learning, and close friendships. She enjoys art, music, gardening, travel, horses and dogs, and nature walks. We both have a heart for missions and discipleship, and share a passion to grow in our maturity in Christ, in our marriage and in other relationships.

Certification: Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, #792.
Training and Credentials: Master of Marriage and Family Therapy (2008), Externship in Emotionally Focused Therapy (2010), Master of Divinity (1994).

About Teresa: I graduated from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville in 1984 with a degree in elementary education, and my first teaching job was in Charlotte, North Carolina. I met my husband Todd in college. We have been married for 25 years. Our oldest child, Jason, is a Belmont graduate, and Kelsey is a senior at Furman University in Greenville, South Carolina. Having grown up in middle Tennessee, Todd and I were thrilled when he was transferred to Nashville in 1992. In 1996 I returned to the classroom as a teacher at New Hope Academy and later took a job in the Franklin Special School District. It was during my years as a classroom teacher that I saw how relational problems within a family have an effect on the whole family. I soon found that my passion was working with the heart issues within the family, so I returned to school in 2003 working towards a graduate degree in Marriage and Family Therapy. I am now a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and am honored to walk through trying times with couples and individuals. In addition to my work at Fellowship, I maintain a private practice in the Franklin area.

Certification: Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, #739.
Training and Credentials:
Master of Marriage and Family Therapy (2006), Trained Emotionally Focused Couples Therapist (2009).

About Jill: A native Tennessean from Memphis, I moved “back home” to Nashville in 2009 with my husband, David. Married 16 years, we met at Rice University in Houston, TX and now have two girls, ages seven and eleven. After college I worked in medical research for the Army and the Centers for Disease Control, and then taught college biology. Through advising students, I found my true calling and re-entered the field of counseling. My experience includes working with depression and anxiety, trauma, and advanced work with positive youth development and eating disorders. In addition to being a mother, my passions are life-on-life discipleship, counseling women and adolescent girls, teaching, and learning. Above all, I want others know and understand God’s incredible love! I enjoy painting and everything outdoors, from rock climbing to kayaking. In the near-term, I plan to complete doctoral studies in counseling.

Certification: In process of MFT license.
Training and Credentials:
Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology, Georgia State University (2006); Master of Science in Biomedical Research, Emory University (1998).
